Barb Clark is the Director of Training at Families Rising and the proud parent of five adult children. She also serves as the head coach for the international FASD Caregiver Kickstart virtual coaching program. With a passion for transforming parenting challenges into teachable moments, Barb shares her journey with honesty, humor, and real-life stories that inspire caregivers and professionals to rethink traditional approaches and embrace more effective, compassionate strategies. A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Youth Development, Barb credits her greatest insights to what she’s learned from her children. Her parenting experience includes raising children with prenatal exposure to alcohol, drugs, and early trauma, giving her a deep, firsthand understanding of the complexities these individuals face. Barb has a special passion for supporting adoptive and foster parents, helping them understand the impact of trauma and guiding them to parent in flexible, innovative ways that meet their children’s unique needs. Barb specializes in training, coaching, and supporting others in the world of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), with a particular focus on addressing challenging behaviors such as raging, lying, and stealing. She is an international trainer who has equipped a wide range of professionals—including therapists, caregivers, social workers, residential treatment staff, medical providers, and law enforcement—with the tools to better support individuals impacted by prenatal substance exposure. Deeply committed to systems change, Barb empowers her audiences to think differently and take actionable steps toward lasting impact. Her first book, Raising Kids and Teens with FASD: Advice and Strategies to Help Your Family Thrive, will be published on October 21, 2025.
