Born in Glendale, Arizona, and raised in a proud Air Force family, BJ has spent the better part of her life in suburban Detroit—first as a surgery technician, then as an office manager in the ophthalmology field. In 2023 she and her husband Scott celebrated 25 years of marriage, and they’re the proud parents of two adult children, Shelby and Mike. Ever since overhearing her now-retired detective husband swapping stories at the dinner table and community events, BJ’s been captivated by the twists, turns, and moral puzzles of police work. A lifelong doodler and note-taker, she finally decided to turn those real-life tales into fiction once the nest began to empty. Today, BJ is the author of seven gritty, fast-paced thrillers—seven installments in the Detective Carlo D’Scenzi series and the spin-off Red Chronicles trilogy. When she’s not plotting her next heist or homicide, you’ll find her cheering on her favorite teams, sneaking extra treats to the family dog, or trying to write with a pup in her lap and zero personal space.
