B.D. Godard was a former Air Force Security Forces member, EOD Augmentee, and military historian who spent ten years learning that warfare's hardest questions aren't tactical—they're moral. After the service, he flew freight and airlines, worked aerospace and defense, then IT, before returning to writing. He runs a commercial beekeeping operation with 2,000 colonies across three states and writes thrillers exploring the cost of violence and what it means to rebuild yourself after catastrophic loss. Guardian Down was inspired by time spent in the gym with Pararescuemen from the 67th ARRS at RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge—listening to their stories and witnessing their brotherhood. Their motto "That Others May Live" became the moral backbone of his protagonist, Luis Cortez. B.D. was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, and currently calls Texas his home. He believes the best thrillers don't just ask "will the hero win?"—they ask "what will winning cost him?"
