Ashley Lyn Olson is a writer, speaker, and accessibility advocate whose life and work explore the intersection of healing, resilience, and the natural world. Her first book, Confined to Align: A Journey to Wellbeing, is a compelling memoir chronicling her path after a car accident at age fourteen claimed her father’s life and left her paralyzed. Through honest reflection, Ashley shares how she redefined movement, purpose, and joy from the inside out. Her newest release, Thoreau’s Cabin: Reflections In and Of Nature, is a deeply personal poetry collection born of her lifelong love of the outdoors. Inspired by her travels, still moments in nature, and hard-earned perspective, the book invites readers to reconnect—with nature, with themselves, and with what matters most. Ashley graduated with honors from the University of Southern California and is the founder of WheelchairTraveling website, a pioneering platform launched in 2006 to help people with disabilities access travel and nature experiences. She also leads the Access 2 Parks Project (#access2parks), working with public land agencies to improve accessibility across the US. Her story is featured in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History’s permanent exhibit Creating Icons: How We Remember Woman Suffrage. She was also selected for The RAW Beauty Project, a groundbreaking visual and storytelling campaign celebrating women with disabilities through the lens of beauty, strength, and authenticity. Ashley’s work has been featured in National Geographic, AAA Magazine, New Mobility, PN News, Hindustan Times (India), Able Outdoors, Revista Reação (Brazil), and Life in Action Magazine, among others. She has spoken at institutions like Johns Hopkins Hospital, USC Keck School of Medicine, and Saint Mary’s College, and appeared on podcasts including Power to Change, The Write Reflection, Right to Write, and Conversations with Creative Women. Through writing, poetry, and public engagement, Ashley Lyn Olson continues to inspire connection—to nature, to community, and to the quiet strength within us all.
