About the Author Ash Lingam was born near the Ohio River and was raised on a country farm void of neighbors. His only friends were his horse, Sugar, and his four sisters. His grandfather, born in 1886, grew crops, and cattle and bought, broke, and sold ponies and horses—he raised the young boy as his own with his mother. As a child he said his grandad carried an old Colt in his coat pocket. Ash learned the ropes around horses, cattle, and the farm at an early age. Pop, as he called his grandad, taught him how to trap muskrats at eight to stop them draining their ponds. He gave him a double-barreled twelve-gauge shotgun at twelve and taught him how to hunt to put food on the table. By then, he was breaking the ponies and horses, too. His Tennessee Walker never let anyone ride her other than Ash. Together, they searched through the plowed fields in the spring, looking for Miami Indian arrowheads to add to his grandfather’s ample collection. Ash’s family were among the early settlers and pioneers from England and Scotland to America. His ancestry is traceable back to 1776. Still, this relative’s parents were born in America well before then, which places their immigration from England possibly around 1746 or earlier. The date of the first family’s arrival to America was unattainable, but it is estimated that his ancestors immigrated over two hundred fifty years ago. Due to a depression hitting Florida, where he worked as a young man, Ash began to travel the world in search of jobs and adventure. In his early days during his explorations, he crossed the Andes Mountains on horseback in South America. He also drove heavy equipment across 5,700 miles from Europe to Asia and rode a motorcycle from the Chinese border in Tibet to South India, among endless other adventures. For a period, he owned and captained a sports fishing boat. His passions then were giant bluefin tuna, blue marlin, and large sharks. He caught over a hundred fish ranging from 200 to 900 pounds, testing his skills from the Mediterranean Sea to the Azor Islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It was evident from an early age that Lingam was fiddle-footed and sought every adventure that crossed his path, leading him to work in or explore forty-four countries and reside in eleven. Ash discovered surfing in Florida in his early twenties and became an avid surfer, traveling the globe for better and bigger swells—a passion that has lasted many decades. This recklessness toward danger followed Lingam through his life and was evident on many of his risky excursions, some nearly costing him his life. Later in life, he built a business as a licensee with Walt Disney Consumer Products Intl, which became a joint venture, making the author a worldwide president for home textiles under the Disney umbrella stretching across the globe from Europe to Australia, including twenty-six countries. Now, Ash invests his time in his latest endeavor as he writes Westerns and American Pioneer novels. With his vast vault of experiences, he never runs out of sources for a new story. Today, he resides between his home in Barcelona, Spain, and San Francisco, California, near his son. He still trains Police defense and attack dogs as a hobby and works with his Malinois Lola daily. To date, Ash Lingam has written approximately 150 novels, short stories, and poetry, of which 110 publications are Westerns currently on sale worldwide.
