Anne-Lise Boge was born in 1939, in Oslo’s neighborhood of Grünerløkka, and currently lives in Holmlia. The author is a teacher by profession, and worked in one of Oslo’s schools for 25 years. The story of the 'Original Sin' saga grew in the author’s imagination for 40 years before it became a novel in a weekly magazine in 1996, and published in book form in summer of 1998. It has since had more than 400,000 copies printed. The series was an immediate success, and now encompasses a total of 26 books in its original Norwegian. Anne-Lise spends a lot of time writing, but she enjoys reading as well. Her favorite author is Sigrid Undset, and has been since she first read her medieval trilogy, 'Kristin Lavransdatter' when she was quite young. Family means a lot to the author, who has two children and six grand-children.
