“Telling true-to-life western stories with grit, heart, and a woman’s voice.” Anita Waggoner is a modern-day western storyteller who writes from the heart—and from experience. Raised in small-town Washington and seasoned by life on the open plains of Oklahoma, Anita brings grit, soul, and realism to every book she writes. She is the author of Freedom, Echoes of Freedom (poetry), The Ranch at Huckleberry Ridge, The Gambler, and Dakota Wells, all of which carry her signature themes: strength, self-discovery, and the spirit of the West. Anita began writing professionally after selling her Oklahoma guest ranch in 2010. Her first novel, Farewell to Freedom, won Best Fiction in the 2011 National Indie Excellence Awards. She has since published multiple novels, short stories, inspirational quotes, and self-help works. Her books are available in eBook and print, and many have been adapted into screenplays. Her screenplay for Freedom is a multi-award winner, honored by Dreamcatcher International Film Festival, Santa Barbara, Table Read My Screenplay, and Creative World. The film is currently in development, and she is actively writing screenplays based on her other works. A paralegal by training and a cowgirl at heart, Anita now resides in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She continues to write stories that honor the western way of life, inspiring readers and audiences with tales of resilience, romance, and real-life grit. Follow Anita to stay updated on her upcoming sequel What Might’ve Been, and the film adaptation of Freedom.
