Angela Merlo is a novelist and journalist whose fiction blends the mysterious, the psychological, and the redemptive. Her stories explore the quiet tension between fear and faith, doubt and desire, often set in shadowed spaces where light still finds a way through. She began sharing her work on Wattpad in 2014, where her fiction was featured by the platform and earned recognition in several contests. Her novel Devil’s Lake quickly found a dedicated readership, reaching #3 in the Paranormal category and winning third place in The_Night_Shift’s Killer First Scene contest. It was also named a finalist in the 2019 Indies Today Awards and will be re-released in 2025 as the Anniversary Edition. Her short fiction has received similar praise: Mother was honored as a Top 35 finalist in the #TNTHorrorContest, while Lady in Red placed in the top five of RomanceSparks’ #HauntedRomance contest. These early works helped solidify her reputation for crafting stories that blend emotional intensity with an eerie, atmospheric style. Angela draws creative inspiration from authors like Flannery O’Connor, J.K. Rowling, Sharon Shinn, L.J. Smith, and C.S. Lewis — writers who explore both darkness and grace in compelling, human ways. She writes for readers who are drawn to emotionally layered fiction, moral complexity, and the subtle movements of grace in unexpected places. She also publishes weekly reflections on fiction, faith, and the human condition at her Substack, Embers of Incense. Angela is currently working on a religious memoir, to be released in 2026, chronicling her journey into Orthodox Christianity.
