I’ve spent most of my adult life in law enforcement, but I’ve never wanted my career to define me. Above all, I am a Christian, a grateful husband, a proud father, and a joyful grandfather. My faith guides me, and I’ve strived to embody Christian values of justice, mercy, and humility throughout my career. My book, Room 1203, is a true crime account of the investigation that led to O.J. Simpson’s conviction for armed robbery. It includes police anecdotes and personal failures to reflect the highs and lows of modern law enforcement. I hope the book honors both my faith and the law enforcement profession. My experience in the field lends credibility to this true crime story. My law enforcement journey began in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, with service at Fort Gordon, Georgia; Baumholder, Germany; and various bases in Bosnia in 1996. After leaving the Army in 1998, I joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). I was fortunate to become a detective within four years and was assigned to the Robbery Section a year later—a near-pinnacle role for detective work. There, I worked high-profile cases featured on CourtTV, America’s Most Wanted, and Dateline. As a Robbery Detective, I investigated the case that led to O.J. Simpson’s 15–33-year prison sentence. After five years in Robbery, I moved to LVMPD’s Criminal Intelligence Section, working on the FBI Political Corruption Task Force. After retiring from LVMPD, my family and I relocated to the Pacific Northwest. I am currently serving as the Chief of Police for a community in Washington State, where I continue to apply my experience and values to serve the public. I’m passionate about discussing how Christians can serve in the criminal justice system while upholding accountability. I also cherish family time and outdoor activities in the Northwest. My wife, Cein Caldwell (Maas), is my best friend and a true gift from God. Her strength and support are invaluable. We have three children—Rebekah, McKenzie, and Owen—who constantly remind me of her remarkable motherhood. Our oldest, Rebekah, is married to Jason Knoble, and they’ve blessed us with two wonderful grandchildren, Avery and Oliver. Oh, and I’m a die-hard Dodgers fan!
