Greetings from beautiful British Columbia! My name is Alex Goncharov — a Canadian of Russian origin, Senior Product Manager in IT by profession, and a passionate Orthodox Christian by heart. I live in Surrey, BC, with my wife Olga and our four children, where we are active members of Saint Herman Orthodox Church (OCA). Our family life is a joyful journey of faith, creativity, and service. Beyond the office, we sing in the church choir, bake prosphora, train service dogs, write poetry and fairy tales, compose music, decorate our church with flowers, and handcraft educational wooden toys and icons — all to glorify God and serve others. Over the years, I have written more than 15 books for children, teens, and families, inspired by the rich spiritual tradition of the Orthodox Church. These include spiritual stories, lives of Saints, educational guides, and books of music and poetry. Many are now also available as audiobooks, including Sasha’s Journey to Her First Confession, which helps children and young catechumens learn about confession, virtues, and the path of faith through engaging storytelling. Our small family project, Orthodox Toys, is more than a hobby — it is our missionary effort to bring faith to life for children and catechumens through storytelling, craftsmanship, and music.
