Running my Own Race, published in the UK by Nosy Crow, is her debut middle grade novel. The book has been longlisted and shortlisted for a number of UK book awards including being shortlisted for the Peters Children's Book of the Year 2026. It has been included in the round-up of best children's books of 2025 in the UK for Amazon, Waterstones and LoveReading4Kids.
Abena wrote Our Family Family, an educational narrative non-fiction book, for Oxford University Press.
