I loved being wrong-footed by this horror/romance!

I chose this horror / romance novella on spec for Halloween and I’m so glad I did! For the most part it’s a charming and gentile story about Jaime, a destitute twenty year old who is given shelter at an opulent B&B by Logan, the genial and ever-accomodating host. Logan is gentle and shy and Jaime is drawn to his good nature. Then the gloves come off and we are taken a wild ride of blood, tentacle monsters, and disappearing guests - I wasn’t expecting all of those! I didn’t find the gore too graphic but I did find the ending satisfyingly surreal - I loved being continually wrong-footed. Author Amanda Meuwissen also narrates the audio and she does it fabulously well. I had low expectations given it’s a M/M romance and well, authors usually hire professional narrators for a reason, but I was so impressed I’m going to try her other self-narrated works.
