Publisher's Summary

One summer night, Edward Alcott gives in to temptation and kisses Lady Julia Kenney in a dark garden. However, the passion she stirs within him is best left in the shadows as she weds his twin, the earl of Greyling. But when tragedy strikes, to honor the vow he makes to his dying brother, Edward must pretend to be Greyling until the countess delivers her babe.

After her husband returns from a two-month sojourn, Julia finds him changed. Bolder, more daring, and more wicked - even if he does limit their encounters to kisses. With each passing day, she falls more deeply in love.

For Edward the embers of desire sparked on that long-ago night are quickly rekindled. He yearns to be her husband in truth. But if she discovers his ruse, she will despise him - and English law prevents him from marrying his brother's widow. Yet he must dare to risk everything and reveal his secrets if he is to truly take all.

A death defying love ❤

This is my very first book of Lorriane Heath and of this series. While I'm generally not a big fan of lies, this one is done with the best of into and brings together a couple who already had feelings for each other that grow into a beautiful love story.

I really loved who Edward was in this book, as this is the only version I know but I gather he may not have been as great in book 1 but I believe Albert always knew the man he could be and for and with Julia and their family Edward was a really wonderful man.

I quite liked Julia even if at times I wanted to tell her to talk to Edward as he loved her and hadn't meant to deceive her for so long.

I do wish they hadn't jumped so far forward with the epilogue at the end (18 years). Personally it seemed really far fetched that Juila who had taken black hair I believe could have white hair at the end. Roughly saying she had Allie between 30 to 40 that would've out her 45 to 55ish so maybe grey at a reach but white? That seemed unrealistic to me unless she was far older. But if I remember rightly Juila married Albert when he was 23 or 25 and he died 7 years later but I dunno.. It's doing my head in..

Not sure what kind of epilogue I wanted but yeah....

As for the narrator well she was awful and I only stuck it out for the story itself.
