Publisher's Summary

From the author of the New York Times and international best seller Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop presents a no-holds-barred guide to breaking through our cycles of self-sabotage to get what we want out of life.

In Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop told us it was time to stop making excuses - to recognise and take responsibility for the negative self-talk holding us back.

In Stop Doing That Sh*t, he builds on that message, teaching us how to stop self-sabotaging behaviour. Bishop explains how our destructive cycles come down to the way that we’re wired. He then identifies different types of people and the ways we fu*k ourselves over: we can’t save money. We land in the same type of toxic relationship. We’re stuck in a rut at work. Analysing why we act the way we do, including what our common grenades are that blow up our lives, Bishop then shows how we can interrupt the cycle and stop self-sabotaging our lives.

Written in the same in-your-face style as Unfu*k Yourself, Stop Doing that Sh*t will help us get in touch with our psychological machinery so we learn to interrupt negative thoughts and behaviour before they start, allowing us to give our attention to something else and start to find success in the areas we thought we never could.

We can take back our lives. We may have fu*ked up in the past, but Stop Doing That Sh*t will show us how to break the patterns in order to live the lives we yearn to have.

Holy f#%@ of a s&=#

Unexpectedly brilliant. I'm normally skeptical of such books but this was a brilliant listen. Sentence after sentence hit perpetual home runs. I'll be revisiting this regularly and probably listen to the last chapter every week from now on. Yeah, the message at times can seem simple but it's these simple and straightforward messages that make the difference. Time to make something of myself! insha allah

Tough love

There’s some handy stuff here to help break those annoying habits we all hold that hold us back. However, even allowing for the author’s deliberate tough love approach, I still found the shouty narration here exhausting in parts. Useful, but maybe buy the paper version

Wanted to review after the first 10 minutes

As usual, Gary does not disappoint. If this book does not make you realise where you’re failing, then you are simply not ready to take the steps required to sort yourself out. Ironically you then need to consume it again, then again. Truth bombs aplenty.

Great read

Couldnt listen to his shouting at night, but loved his message and the Scottish accent!
I also loved Garys analogy of creating your vision day by day, starting now, and taking ownership of all that you are while you do it, ugly bits and all.
Can't wait to begin creating my vision of what and how I want to be, relate and experience for the rest of my life.
Cheers potty mouth, and THANKS !!

Listen to Unfu*k Yourself first THEN this too.

Unfu*k Yourself and Stop Doing That Sh!t are the only two books you will need to read/listen to to regain your life, stop looking back and start looking forward to the future, just wish I had read/listened to them quite a few years ago!!!

Life Changing

Maybe it was something to do with timing , but this book is the most impactful self help book I've read in three decades. If you let it, this book will help you become the person you want to be, and help you identify what has held you back until now. Essential reading.

Slide into confronting yourself!

A witty listen/ read for the intelligent, intellectual on the path to self awareness by a entertaining voice urging the balance of masculine and feminine energies to cordially congeal under your skin to shed the old layers off. Could even be a starting point for the narcissistically inclined if they’re brave enough to actually listen and FINALLY be accountable as an adult and vulnerable as a child…
Loved it, 5 stars from me and I’ll listen to it 15-20 times till I let every bit under my subconscious skin!. Thankyou 🙏
