Late one evening, en route to visit a relative, an accident leaves Tory - the attractive, twenty-something daughter of a prominent history professor – stranded near a ring of stones in Britain. Tory resolves to spend the night at the stone circle and seek help in the morning.... But across the vortex of time and space, she is taken back to the Dark Age. There she meets Prince Maelgwn of Gwynedd and his band of warriors. Initially her 'strange' appearance frightens them and they believe she is the notorious witch fabled to frequent the site. But she overcomes their fear and soon the tales of her adventures, brave deeds, and beauty spread across the land.

yes, good fantasy and keep my attention
when is book two and three going to be available........
not just a book, but a way of life. Tory Alexander is my inspiration in all things. A flawed being who achieves great changes through her positive outlook and strength of character.
funny mix of romance chick lit, comedy and time travel and taikwando. Unfortunately the story is a bit spoiled due to lack of editing. the books could be cut almost half in length to get the story flowing better. good points to Tracey for not using blasphemy or foul language.
"One of the best beginnings to a superb trillogy!"
Yes, because it opens into one of the best trillogies I have ever read. This audio version is excellent.
Tori is going to be every ones fave. She represents so much that is true in us and what we should be aspiring to.
Edwina brough pronunciation of the welsh names that I had only done phonetically from reading the books. Her lilting voice and subtle use of accents and tonal changes for the characters was nicely done.
When do we get the rest of the trillogies as audio books?
"Very good performance ."
Interesting story. Probably meant for a younger audience..,.maybe teens. Non offensive, really quite fun and easy to follow.
"A Fantastic example of Audible excellence"
Traci Harding has written a brilliant story, no weak characters, the story line is amongst the best that I have read. And then there is Edwina Wren, one of the best narrators, I have even had the pleasure of listening to. The perfect partnership between Author and Narrator, a great example of how a audible book can exceed the printed medium.
The premise of time travel back to the Dark Ages sounded like an interesting read, but after the 1st 6 hours it turned into a ridiculous story about how to manipulate men into marriage while staying "chaste". Too much goddess this and goddess that. The author contradicts herself constantly by trying to profess how strong her women are, with her main character teaching them all Marshal Arts to "protect" themselves, and then in the next sentence talking about how to get a MAN to marry them for "life" by with holding their "favors". Give me a break.
Maybe a good book to help women who have identity or self respect issues and/or feel threatened by men. Maybe this book should be in the Romance category.
I am disappointed. A friend said they loved this author and highly recommended this book.
I am half way through the audiobook and I feel like I still don't have a good feel for the story line. Either there are portions missing or the author failed to build a good foundation for the rest of the story. I don't know if I can stick it out to the end.
I think the narration could be better as well. The narrator is ok but her presentation of this story is not very appealing.
This book has everything. It's magical, romantic, suspenseful, loyalty, love of friends and family. You just don't want it to end. I do know there's two more books. I've already downloaded them. However it looks like this is the only one that was on audible. I'm sorry to hear that. But I will read the books. Thank you for the vacation in time
"Interesting enough to keep listening!"
The author places an interesting twist on the Merlin legend. It is a bit lame in the entire goddess section, but redeemed itself at the end.
"The Ancient Future"
I have loved the book for years and this audio presentation has been beautifully read by Edwina Wren. If you like Romance, Knights, Magicians, Gods and Goddesses as well as Adventure, Mysticism and Time Travel you will love this book. I highly recommend this production.
Travelling to the dark ages is fine but thai Kwondo, C'mon.
Nothing wrong with the narrator
I bought it so I'll carry on
Inspired me to dropped my protective veil and feel the true goodness of Mother Earth around me. I long for the continuation!
"Teenage fiction at its best"
In Tory Alexander, Harding has created a character so beautiful, so perfect, so fabulous in every single way that one finds it exeptionally hard to empathise with her. Not only is she beautiful, she is a black belt in Karate, well read in historical Britain, the daughter of a world famous musician and university lecturer and she happens (conveniently) to speak the exact dialect of the people who find her (which pretty much seems to be modern and colloquial English with a thee, thine and thou thrown in for good measure)!
Within days of arriving in medieval Wales, Tory has entranced everyone in the castle. The King (and most of his men - obviously) are so enamoured with this perfect being they hang on her every word and urge her to teach them the amazing fighting style she posesses.
Within weeks Tory has bagged the King, become Queen, suddenly gains magical powers, succeeds in changing centuries old attitudes to women so that they are equal to the men, helps her 'people' deal with childhood demons by hugging, sets up her own dojo and continues to prove that she is a strong, independent woman with no time for that silly feminine stuff, despite getting fluffy over pretty dresses and 'boys'!
Two thirds of the way through and I can't handle any more of this pithy, preachy Mary-Sue fiction. If you are a fan of juvenile romance stories (or a teenage girl) then this book is probably a perfect fantasy adventure for you. If you are not, move on to the next book!
"Interesting story and well read"
I am glad I got this book; the story has some interesting plots based around variations of on King Arthur type stories. Simply a good story to have in my collections of audio books, I am looking forward to others books in this series.
