Publisher's Summary

The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, holds the fate of the world in his hands in the New York Times best-selling first novel in the Witcher series that inspired the Netflix show and video games.

For more than a hundred years humans, dwarves, gnomes and elves lived together in relative peace. But times have changed, the uneasy peace is over and now the races once again fight each other - and themselves: dwarves are killing their kinsmen, and elves are murdering humans and elves, at least those elves who are friendly to humans....

Into this tumultuous time is born a child for whom the witchers of the world have been waiting. Ciri, the granddaughter of Queen Calanthe, the Lioness of Cintra, has strange powers and a stranger destiny, for prophecy names her the Flame, one with the power to change the world - for good, or for evil....

Geralt, the witcher of Rivia, has taken Ciri to the relative safety of the Witchers' Settlement, but it soon becomes clear that Ciri isn't like the other witchers. As the political situation grows ever dimmer and the threat of war hangs almost palpably over the land, Geralt searches for someone to train Ciri's unique powers. But someone else has an eye on the young girl, someone who understand exactly what the prophecy means - and exactly what Ciri's power can do.

This time Geralt may have met his match.

Extremely enjoyable!

Great book, although the narrative is slightly incostinent in regards to action and character building set pieces. Alot better than the two short story books written before this entry, and the narrator really shines especially with his voicing of Ciri and Geralt. All in all, this is spectacular. A must read for any dark fantasy fans out there.

Great story, can't wait to read the sequel.

I really liked Peter Kenny's narration. He does the story justice and it makes the read really enjoyable. The book itself was great too.

Nothing spectacular

I feel like most of this book is setting up the story for the following books. Does not feel like a lot is happening.

Setting up a saga

Great and now very well known characters are set into play with the first novel in the this saga. Not overly action heavy but filled with lore and letting us know where everyone starts off before the game begins.

Good narration, can't fault the performance.

Better that the TV Series

I’m a big fan of the TV series and so started listing to this book. The depth added by the novel is fantastic. The world created by Sapkowski is a rich and as detailed as the best fantasy genres and the characters are colourful and diverse. Kenny’s narration added to the amazing tapestry of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this reading.

Blood of Elves doesn't disappoint

Again, loved it. Performed to perfection and such a riveting tale. The characters are well rounded and relatable, and are a joy to follow.

Onto the next!

Not your standard Swords and Sorcery

Watched the Netflix series so thought I'd give this a go. Now, this type of fiction is not usually my cup of tea, but this is well above your standard fare. Lots of details, names and events, but worth getting you head around. Narrator does a great job of differentiating characters, using regional accents. Well worth a listen
