Publisher's Summary

*Now a major TV series starring Gary Oldman*

Slough House is the Intelligence Service outpost for failed spies, former high-fliers now dubbed the 'slow horses'. Catherine Standish, one of their number, worked in Regent's Park long enough to understand treachery, double-dealing and stabbing in the back, and she's known Jackson Lamb long enough to have learned that old sins cast long shadows. And she also knows that chance encounters never happen to spooks, even recovering drunks whose careers have crashed and burned.

What she doesn't know is why anyone would target her.

So whoever's holding her hostage, it can't be personal. It must be about Slough House. Most likely, it's about Jackson Lamb. And say what you like about Lamb, he'll never leave a joe in the lurch.

He might even be someone you could trust with your life.

Another great slow horses yarn

Love this instalment of the slow horses. Sean Barrett is a great narrator who brings each of the characters to life.

The author has perfected this genre. Beautifully written, masterfully spoken. It doesn’t get any better.

Herron at his best

Another fabulous Slow Horses” story; well crafted and read. Well worth the listen if you’re a Jackson Lamb fan - he’s particularly obnoxious and fabulous in this story.

Another Great Story from Slough House

Mick Herron has created a great evolving story that keeps you interested until the end. The flawed, rounded characters are believable and likeable and Jackson Lamb the best. Very clever, humorous quips from all the characters lift the whole spook theme from what can be very serious. I loved the idea that the Slough House itself appears to be an entity, aged, creaky and filled with secrets. Just loved it until the end. Sean Barrett is perfect, to narrate as I have found any book he reads. Highly recommended.

Mick Herron triumphs again!

Superb plot. More fleshing out of characters who’ve become as familiar and annoying as family. Brilliant English humour and even sharper dispatching from Jackson Lamb who’s surely become an iconic figure in modern spy fiction. Or should be!
And Sean Barrett continues to perform at a level of genius that has me replaying passages again and again. Just because I can. Because he is truly excellent!!!

Terrific

Jackson Lamb is the 21st Century Hercule or Sherlock.

As sharp as a laser bevelled tack and as disgustingly offensive as chunky cat sick.

This man deserves a new word, curmudgeon barely describes his big toe.

Its unpredictability!

Sean Barrett is a legend in his narration. He gives real gravitas to the story!
