If you're serious about getting in shape, then this is a perfect guide! This covers everything from beginning to end in helping you lose weight and gain muscle.
I would recommend hard copy, but not Audio book.
Not Audiobook. The recording of the book is very weak, too many glitches, very very annoying. The voice and intonation very monotonic, it makes hard to listen for a long time. Actually, it was putting me to sleep all the time. I was struggling at the end to listen to it because of the voice. Charming voice, but I was missing real emotions, intonation, stressing the points and real story telling.

In early January 2016 I went to see an MD/nutritionist based out of my general physician's office (which has been absorbed into a huge corporate health care entity), for the purpose of getting my act together and losing about 30 lbs. I came away shocked by how lame it was - $200 later all I had to show for it was a couple of non-customized meal plans (starvation-level and calorie deficit) that I could have downloaded from the Internet, no guidance, no context, no firm goals or timeline, and a prescription for an appetite suppressant. Oh, and the doctor did manage to steer me past the part of the office where they conveniently sell diet supplements and powdered drinks. So, nothing but a $$$$ marketing exercise for them and a waste of time for me. I went home and started to do some research and, long story short, picked up BTF FTM on audible and started listening. BAM! Less than five minutes into the audiobook I knew I had made the right selection. Right off, Tom Venuto (who narrates) addresses the four pillars of weight control- mental, nutrition, cardio, strength training, and provides the roadmap to get there. He is direct, brutally honest, detailed, and powerfully motivating. I feel I'm back on track after my discouraging visit to the so-called nutritionist. THANK YOU TOM!
"Excellent! No BS"
The audio version of the book is great. I would recommend still buying the paper back book to be able to go back for quick reference.
I've been training for 8 months and came across this book. Tom does an excellent job at explaining and providing solid road map for losing body fat naturally. I love chapters 16-19. Also chapter 6 is a must read as well. Excellent book if you are serious about getting into shape.

This book teaches you exactly what and how to eat in order to improve your body. It exposes the fad diets and nonsense in the fitness industry.
None! Most of the other stuff I read is all garbage.
I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to lose weight, or get in shape! This book will make you understand all the nonsense and lies in the fitness industry, It all comes down to proper nutrition, and realistic training routines that work for you! The author is honest enough to say that each person is different, and listening to what works for someone else may only lead to frustration. Most books are about theory, however, this book is about results! I have made more improvements shortly after reading this book than in my last five years.of training. I listened to trainers and websites claiming to give good advice, but the sad reality is that most people out there preaching don't know what they are talking about. Just because someone looks good doesn't mean they can help you. They may have lost weight, and will only gain it back after they can not keep up their deprived diet. They might be on steroids. They might have good genes. They may have $$$ profits as their priority. You should listen to someone who can help you become the best version of yourself There is no magic solution, and the author will help you understand that. This book sold so many copies because the author brings to true value to the consumer. He will give you the foundation of nutrition and training to modify your body at will....assuming your have the will power and discipline to do it.
"Finally, the details!!!"
So many books like this with no actionable details. This book was different. it was full of detail and clear explanations and usable effective guidelines. I am going to read it again and take even more notes.

Realistic, evidence based
This book is thorough, based on good science and solid experience. It is not extreme or a fad in any form. It's easy to understand, has thorough explanations and the PDF charts actually worked! I just finished it then I bought the paperback to write in and I'll listen to it again! This is a great book for beginners and for those who want to take their physique up a notch.
He was easy to understand.
It made me want to create a food plan and hit the gym...which I did!
"Get This Book Now - You Will Not Regret!"
I highly recommend this book - it is a well-written (and spoken) definitive manual on fitness. I already own the physical book, and was pretty stoked to learn that this audio book was available and narrated by the author himself - Tom Venuto. His writing style and oratory skills really help the listener understand the fundamentals of fitness, beginning with 1) Goal-setting 2) Nutrition 3) Cardio and 4) Strength Training.
I often listen to this book whenever I'm lifting weights, running, or cycling. It helps to reinforce my understanding of the methods I've chosen to burn fat and build muscle. I also thoroughly enjoying learning about Calories, and the macro nutrients: Proteins, Carbs, and Fats. Tom presents the information in such a manner that it sticks with you. You'll want to listen to this audio book again and again.

"Great info but missing pdf"
This is the second Tom Venuto audible I bought (1st was Body Fat Solution)...Mr V refers to a pdf that accomplanied this audio book but my download page library doesn't have it there. Please audible...hook a brother up! :-)

If you want a good grasp on EXACTLY what to do for u specifically to see results whether it be getting skinny, building muscle, knowing how to properly eat and exact foods that are best for your desired results you need this book!! Takes away all the anxieties of being on a hamster wheel of no results 😊

"He just makes sense where other dont"
Absolutely! The book is well written. The best authors make difficult subjects tangible for the layman. He has done that in this book and I personally am approaching my fitness differently because of it.
I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to start to improve their fitness, whether you are 300kg or an athlete. The content is perfect to improve your current situation regardless of your level. I love the fact this is not an overnight solution, but rather a lifestyle change that the author somehow makes you the reader, want to adopt.
"What a Genius this man is!!!!"
I am a qualified fitness instructor and currently studying personal training and clinical nutrition. This is the best audio book I have listened to and teaches you the correct methods of helping you get to the best shape in your life. The four principles of mental, cardio, resistance and nutrition training are very well explained in in good depth. I am now a follower of Tom venuto and hope to someday have the level of knowledge he has in order to help others get the best from a fit and healthy lifestyle.
The narrator Is great. Tom's first book used a different narrator which was a shame as tom's voice is much kinder to the ears and in a pleasant manner. Well done!!
Tom tells his story of how he archieved his goals from being a fattish guy to a many time winner of bodybuilding competitions. Great storyline.

This is a regular listen, so much info, well presented and applicable.
The Author's own story told by him. Though it's a technical book rather than a story he is engaging and measured.
Not applicable as this is a technical book but Tom is a good reader.
How to stop being fat.
Bin the diets and fads this is real world information we all know works - eat less and exercise more - to get fit. The difference is Tom goes into the why's and how's, what works and what doesn't and how to make it work for us mere mortals who have a life outside the gym.
"Useless as a reference"
Great great content. But as a reference, or for repeat listens, the lack of chapter titles or information make this a very boring book. One listen, fine. Want to go back and remind yourself of certain parts? Oh you need to create bookmarks to do that. Yeah audible that is not going to happen. Why not give purchasers a contents page? Gaaaaahhh
"Quite Simply, Phenomenal"
As someone who is relatively new to keeping fit and getting healthy, I'm soaking up every piece of advice I can get my hands on. Trouble is, so much of it is conflicting. What I needed was a level headed explanation of the health and fitness minefield backed up with facts, minus the typically biased opinion of the author.
I think this is it. And it's very comprehensive.
I listened to this book quicker than any other audiobook I have owned. Which is praise in itself. However, this book encouraged me to change my weekly workout routine due to its simple explanation of why I should and what I can expect if I do.
The change in my approach worked even better than I hoped/thought it would. However, on reflection, the most profound change was mentality. Somehow, the book has armed me with facts, details, knowledge and confidence that has ignited something inside me. All the different facets of health, fitness and nutrition have seeped into my subconscious so that I have far more positive, far more intense workouts - cardio and gym have both benefited massively.
Subsequently, I have purchased the book, too. :)

"Comprehensive and motivating"
Although the audio version seems to be read from an Americanised older version of this book. I was still able to follow it and will re-read the sections around diet and weight training as well as goal setting. It's certainly very comprehensive and I would urge everyone to also buy the book which has the meal and training plans as well as tracking tools.
Great for all! Whether a beginner or advanced, there is advice for everyone. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

"Life changing for those with the mental capacity to change"
The level of detail in this book is just at the right level for the average fitness enthusiast. I'm a personal trainer and I easily followed this but my partner needed areas explained.
Mainly focused on performance athletes or those wishing to be but all the same a good level of detail over mental, nutritional and physical aspects of the healthy lifestyle.
