How did an American immigrant without a college education go from Venice Beach T-shirt vendor to television's most successful producer? How did a timid pastor's son surmount a paralysing fear of public speaking to sell out Yankee Stadium - twice? How did the city of Tokyo create a PowerPoint stunning enough to win them the chance to host the Olympics?
They told brilliant stories.
Whether your goal is to sell, educate, fund-raise or entertain, your story is your most valuable asset: 'a strategic tool with irresistible power', according to the New York Times.

I found this book helpful in giving awareness of the value of telling a story, of honing your speech-making capability, and of brutal editing to make the message succinct. Definitely better for having read it.
Once upon a time a colleague recommended I read this book, and I'm so glad that I did! Full of valuable insights and inside secrets, this book is a must read/listen for anyone who wants to evolve their ability to engage audiences through storytelling. It's practical approach will inspire you to the insights to the test after each chapter and contribute to your own success story.
the book provides some useful insight into the main componemts of puttng a good story together. Uses lots of real people as examples. Not too heavy on the techniques and methods which is what i was after. is a good starting point for further research into more in depth techniques.
What I most like about this book is that each chapter explores how a great leader, speaker and inovator has used story to achieve success. It's not just about use of story in speeches, though there is plenty of that, the book explores the critical I'm prance of story in sales, marketing, leadership and entrepreneurship. no matter how good you are at storytelling there is something to learn here. I will certainly be reading/listening to it again.
A must for anyone involved in public speaking! Great to hear all the stories of success people and their personal struggle. Will listen to it all over again...
"Over Repetitive and Cheesy Content"
I was looking forward to this book, the reviews seemed positive. After listening to 2 hours, I couldn't help but notice how repetitive and over drawn the content is. Some parts were cliche and the narration is pompous and doesn't flow with the content. Hugely disappointed.
"Truly thought provoking"
It made me consider my own story and buy a copy for my daughter. I now know the importance of a great story.
"Good starter for ten"
Enjoyed listening and there was a few things that were new to me but over all it was a better listen for those just starting out in their career.
"How to tell the story of your passion!"
Loved this book, as I knew I would! Inspiration for all for the future.
