In the blink of an eye, Mom ran up behind me and pushed me into the fence. Instinctively, I reached out my arms to stop my fall and ended up grabbing the live fence. My hands clamped around the thin wires, and my body collapsed to the ground as the electricity coursed through it. I opened my eyes and saw my mother standing over me with the strangest smile on her face. "Oh, my God, I’m going to die!" I thought in panic.
Imagine never being able to close your eyes and remember the feel of your mother’s arms wrapped around you. Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother’s tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?"
The answer is my book, "Why Me?" It is my childhood journey through the terrors of physical and mental abuse from first grade until the day I moved out. It is my way of letting the world know what was really going on behind closed doors.

"Absolutely Gripping, Heartbreaking, Strengthening!"
Wow! I am still wiping tears from my eyes. . .
The narrator is wonderful. Her emphasis and feelings are So incredibly solid, heartfelt and unfeigned. I felt as if it were the author herself telling her story. I could not have read this book through the tears that I cried so audible was definitely the way to go for this book.
I must admit, it is hard to listen to parts of this book without hurt and anger welling up within. I truly feel for the writer of this story and am so inspired by her strength and courage!
Wonderful Story of Prevail!
This book is frustrating. It will leave you furious with the mother because there is no real ending. It leaves you wanting to find this woman and hand out justice on behalf of this little kid. The fact this woman was allowed to live out her life without some sort of punishment is outright disgusting!!
This book is well written ABD beautifully performed. It was difficult, as I knew it would be, for me to hear. It certainly resonated with me. I want to say it brought back memories, but those memories are already there. It wasn't the same, but it was. If you've experienced anything like it, you know what I mean. I love hearing the triumph of others who are survivors. It's good to know we're out here. Thanks, Sarah! You're beautiful.
I really think this book could have been a lot longer. Too many unanswered questions. That mother should have been arrested.
"True Feeling of an Abuse Child"
This is only for those that really want to know how it feels.
