Publisher's Summary
I was born and broken in Birkenhead, abused from infancy by a network of every kind of pervert from ‘thinks it’s love’ to ‘show it hurts’. I was unwanted, beaten, sold, swapped, photographed, filmed, left for dead, corrupted, blamed, betrayed, ignored and orphaned.
But I was also born with a fire inside me. I call it my Phoenix Fire. I am no victim—that word only describes what happened to me. Nor am I a survivor because that implies I am over it. I am a Phoenix—a work in progress. This is my story....

A heartbreaking and disturbing true story
This true story was so heartbreaking to hear. It was well written and narrated. I felt on the edge of my seat praying and hoping this child would be saved. So many obstacles she faced and continuous setbacks, so many horrible moments in her life that was her daily existence. The evil people that abused her and the twisted system that didn’t protect her. All so shocking and horrifying. I was in awe of her (Shy’s bravery) Thank you for telling your story, achieving so much for others,

Incredible Heartbreaking Read
I read Shy’s book about 10 years ago. I knew that I need to re-read it again. It is just an incredible story that just crushes your soul to know what she went through all the letdowns by all the people that could’ve saved her and all the others. I wish I could save that little girl and all the other kids in the world suffering anything even close to the suffering that Shy went through. It’s a horrible world out there. What a read, so well written. Highly recommend and be prepared for your heart to hurt 💔
