Wendy Church is the author of Knife Skills, the first installment of the Shadows of Chicago series. Knife Skills received a starred review from Kirkus Reviews. Her debut novel, Murder on the Spanish Seas, featuring amateur sleuth Jesse O’Hara ("a woman with a million dollar brain and ten-cent personality"), was named a Booklist Top 10 Debut Mysteries & Thrillers of 2023. The second book in the Jesse O’Hara series, Murder Beyond the Pale, came out early in 2024. Wendy has published a variety of nonfiction works, including a PhD dissertation, a few textbooks and book chapters on global issues, and a number of inappropriately long, hyperbolic Facebook posts about gluten free pizza, the relationship between yoga and The Hobbit, and alien probing.
