Sherrie Dawn grew up in a small town and has been a writer for most of her life, but it was not until she completed her bachelor’s degree in education at Missouri Western and taught high school English for a few years that she decided to put her ideas about country life and faith into a novel. After having three children and moving to a rural town near Kansas City, she obtained an M.A. in English and began teaching composition classes for a local community college as well. Her experiences with teenagers – her own as well as students – she says, has provided her with “enough material to write dozens of books about that precarious moment when kids are on the verge of adulthood and making tough decisions.” Consider It Pure Joy is the first book of a planned four-book Heart of America series.
