Michael J. Fitzgerald has been a magazine and newspaper journalist for more than 40 years. In 2014, he added novelist to his resume with the publishing of "The Fracking War" (Mill City Press, Minneapolis, MN). "The Fracking War" is a tale about the escalating tensions between energy companies using technology known as hydrofracking and environmentalists who want the technology banned. In 2015, he published a novel "Fracking Justice" (Mill City Press, Minneapolis, MN) that looks at how the energy industry has been able to influence governments and the justice system to often label environmental activists as not simply protesters, but "eco-terrorists." Fitzgerald worked as an editor and writer for six daily newspapers in California, as a contributing writer for the Reuters News Service in Sacramento, Calif., and has published articles in numerous sailing and boating magazines including: Cruising World, Latitude 38, Blue Water Sailing, Living Aboard, Bay & Delta Yachtsman, and The Log newspaper. Additionally, Fitzgerald has published in numerous other non-boating magazines including: California Lawyer, Prosper Magazine, Sacramento Magazine, Popular Computing, Dog Fancy, Pool and Spa News and most recently Mountain Home Magazine in Pennsylvania. He writes a weekly column titled "Write On" for the Finger Lakes Times daily newspaper in Geneva, New York. He is co-owner and principal partner of *subject2change Media, a multi-media company involved in print, video and broadcast. Fitzgerald and his wife, journalist Sylvia Fox, live in the Costalegre region of Mexico several months each year with the balance of their time spent in the Finger Lakes region of Central New York and California.
