Jennifer K. Crittenden splits her time between the beaches of Del Mar and the mountains in Mammoth Lakes, California. A former CFO, she is the author of several business-related books as well as the award-winning memoir and travelogue, The Mammoth Letters: Running Away to a Mountain Town. She is originally from Southern Indiana. Full biography: Jennifer K. Crittenden earned an MBA in Finance and MIS from the Kelley School of Business, a BA in Linguistics and French with high distinction from Indiana University, a Baccalaureate certificate in Film Studies, and a CELTA diploma from the University of Cambridge. For over twenty years, she has worked for big pharma and biotech companies in the U.S., U.K. and Europe, rising from financial analyst to CFO. Upon graduation from business school, she joined Bristol-Myers Squibb and worked for their divisions in Warsaw Indiana, Santa Barbara, California, and Brussels, Belgium. She then moved to the sunny skies of San Diego to participate in the emerging biotech industry which eventually led her to eight years of association with Smith & Nephew, working in the U.S. and the U.K. She moved on to serve as Chief Accounting Officer for Anadys Pharmaceuticals, a public biotech company, and as CFO for Biocept, Inc., a private diagnostics company. She occasionally serves as interim CFO for companies in transition. Through her company, The Discreet Guide(TM), Jennifer offers professional development training programs and workshops in Exceptional Presence, interpersonal and communication skills. She speaks and writes frequently on topics related to gender, language, and work-related issues. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Her first book, The Discreet Guide for Executive Women, won the 2012 NIEA award in the Business-Motivational category, and her book, The Mammoth Letters, won in 2018 in the Regional Non-fiction: West category.
