HOLLY MESSINGER is a writer, seamstress, and martial artist. She has a fondness for silk dresses and edged weapons, and has been known to teach workshops in parasol self-defense while wearing a corset and petticoats. In between writing historical fiction she studies library science and cooks with butter and lard. Holly's short fiction has appeared in The Magazine of Science Fiction and Fantasy, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and Baen's Universe. She lives in Lawrence, Kansas, where the locals still reenact Quantrill's raid. Publisher's Weekly called her writing "a master class in how to immerse the reader in a historical setting without drowning them in facts."
