Brian has discovered that traditional leadership materials and training are primarily 'horizontal' and ineffective. Thus, he has removed High Impact Leadership: 10 Action Strategies for Your Ascent and it is no longer available. If you are seriously interested in developing as a leader, Brian suggests you go deeper. Look at all the training that is available and you'll see that it is all horizontal. Everyone is saying the same thing. There's a lot of training attendance but nothing changes. After looking long, hard and deeply at the situation, you suddenly realize all the horizontal training in the world won’t compensate for the need to go deeper into the human condition. Gain insight into why the same problems occur everywhere. For example, no training will help create improvement if you enter the training viewing others--anyone who thinks, acts or looks differently--as 'the enemy.' The change that is needed is more foundational, more fundamental than say, 'empower others to act'. Look below the surface and build character. Brian has learned that what is most essential for impact is invisible to the eyes. Cultivate a strong and active inner Self and the skills and techniques of leadership will flow out of you influencing everything you touch. Consider in the most secular context: Jesus, Buddha, Dalai Lama and even Fred Rogers never attended leadership development training. The goal is to lead with humanity, peace acceptance and forgiveness at the forefront. Not agitating the world nor agitated by it.... Good luck!
