ABOUT BRAD HERZOG Brad Herzog (bradherzog.com) is the author of more than 50 books for readers of all ages, including four critically-acclaimed travel memoirs about his travels through small-town America--DETOUR 2020, TURN LEFT AT THE TROJAN HORSE, SMALL WORLD, and STATES OF MIND, which was named one of the top ten books from independent publishers in 2000 and reached #2 on the Amazon.com bestseller list. The American Book Review has described his books as "the new classics of American travel writing." He has written several other books for adults, including MY MANTELPIECE, the co-authored memoirs of late civil rights icon Carolyn Goodman (with a foreword by Maya Angelou). For children, Brad has written 18 picture books for Sleeping Bear Press, including MURPHY'S TICKET: The Goofy Beginning and Glorious End of the Chicago Cubs Billy Goat Curse. For SBP, he has also written a collection of rhyming alphabet books about soccer, baseball, football, golf, stock car racing, the Olympic Games, extreme sports, Wrigley Field, and amazing moments in sports history. His book about protecting the environment, S IS FOR SAVE THE PLANET, was a finalist in the National "Best Books 2009" Awards and won a Mom's Choice Award. And his latest, W IS FOR WELCOME, chronicles the challenges and contributions of immigrants to America. Brad also wrote a five-book nonfiction series for Free Spirit Publishing that celebrates inspiring true sports stories reflecting five character attributes--sportsmanship, perseverance, teamwork, generosity, and courage. His picture book FRANCIS AND EDDIE (Why Not Books) recounts the remarkable story of golf's 1913 U.S. Open. As a freelance magazine writer, Brad has written more than 250 national magazine articles and been honored four times by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, including a Grand Gold Medal for best feature article of the year. He has been interviewed on "The Today Show" and "Oprah" and has been profiled in publications ranging from People and Time magazines to Reader's Digest.
