Story
Lucy Sullivan is 26 and living it up (and occasionally down) in London. Hers is a life of quiet, undisciplined desperation. But when she and three friends visit a psychic for a bit of fun and the woman's predictions start coming true, Lucy is horrified. For the fortune-teller insisted she'd soon be married - within the year, in fact. Not only does Lucy not have a boyfriend, but the chances of getting one are looking slim. Between the bottles of wine, antidepressants and her addiction to self-help books, she's not quite ready to walk, or even stumble, down the aisle sober.

Story
High heels, movie deals, wagon wheels, shoes, reviews, having the blues, builders, babies, families and other calamities... Many think that Marian leads a glitzy life of limos, television, and showbiz parties - but she would argue that she spends the majority of her life writing alone, wearing her PJs, and eating bananas with a laptop on a pillow in front of her. Under the Duvet is a wide collection of her journalism and stories, all personal, closely observed, and painfully funny...

I tried, but couldn't last
The characters were interesting but underdeveloped, so was the storyline, it was boring. I could not be bothered finishing it.

Marian Keyes never disappoints
pure 'chick lit' in the vest possible way. if you need an enjoyable story that doesn't take itself too seriously this is a great one.

Disappointing
I found it disconcerting that the narrator sounded nothing like what I expected the character to sound like. The story was long winded and towards the end I found myself very frustrated at the main character. I persevered but it didn’t get better in my opinion

I was a little disappointed
I agree with other reviews that this is isn’t the authors best work. I had trouble reconciling the main characters obsession with her love life when she had just given birth; as a mother myself the obsession would be with her beautiful baby. However, it was the narration that I found most off putting. The voices given to the characters, the especially James were a little annoying.

Great escape from life
As ever Marian had one crying or laughing, or even crying with laughter, while you are so easily drawn i to the life of each character, who were all given even more personality by the perfect match of Gerri’s voice of narration.

Meh...
While I enjoyed the way this book was written as a train of thought, I wanted to throttle the main character by the end.
Overcoming self doubt was a key theme and she made better choices in the outcome, but her excessive meekness throughout was quite painful. Such as being only mildly annoyed while being casually sexually assaulted on a train.
Well read though

Not the best in the series
Watermelon was ok. I always love Keyes books but this one just didn't grab me like the others in the series. I still don't even understand the title! Still worth a listen if you want something easy and familiar
