Who is being hunted?
A perfect distraction from the surreal world we are living in right now. Being snowed in at a Scottish Hunting Lodge seems pretty good to me after a week spent getting students and staff ready for online learning. I figured out the mystery fairly early on but there were many twists and semi surprises along the way.

Gripping and atmospheric
With an Agatha Christie feel--think And Then There Were None and The Mousetrap--but updated, this novel is set in the wild lonely beauty of the Scottish Highlands, where a group of old friends, visitors from London, have gathered to celebrate New Year on a snowed-in luxury estate....Told from multiple points of view, and beautifully narrated, it is a gripping and atmospheric mystery novel. Highly recommended.

A wonderful Agatha Christie style whodunnit.
A wonderful Agatha Christie style who-done-it set in a snow covered wilderness. I’m not sure how this group of college friends remained friends and have a yearly catch up when they are often so awkward and snippy with each other. There’s lots of secrets and not so perfect lives bubbling under the surface and it could be anyone who carks it and anyone who did it. Told in several timelines, it builds up and actually takes a while before you even know who has been killed.
Along with the stories of the 9 friends there is also back stories to the ex-military caretaker and the manager, both of whom have their secrets and reasons for working in such a remote area. Throw in a local serial killer and a few other bits and pieces and you’ve got yourself a great tale.
I listened to this on audio so I enjoyed the different voices for the characters and the suspense it added. I think I’ve found myself a new favourite author.

Who-dun-it
I listened to this one having enjoyed ‘The Guest List’. An entertaining, keeps you guessing who-dun-it with with great performances. At times I felt the pacing was a bit slow but overall enjoyable.

We all wear masks....
Totally loved the twists, turns & drama that The Hunting Party had to offer.
The desolation setting, with the murder & not knowing which guest it was that was murdered & by whom was brilliant - the voice actors for this Audio were also a great way to emerge the listener into the “gang” & see how each person related & the connections that bound the different levels of friendship...
The masks that each wore to carry the persona of happy, successful lives, not the struggles & turmoils that each character really was dealing with made the story more relatable.
Throughly enjoyed this book ❤️

Really enjoyable fast moving with some good characters
I found this really easy to listen to. Seems some reviewers didn’t like the characters and I think the “hype” made it disappointing but I didn’t know anything about the book beforehand and found it really entertaining.

Predictable but enjoyable
I don't consider myself very cluey but was able to correctly guess the end game here. Still, was good listening as the performances are stellar and make up for some of the more clichéd aspects of the story.

A fun story that draws you in
I don't read many books in this genre, so I didn't feel the plot was too familiar (as others have remarked). The performance uses difference narrators which helps immensely when listening. I enjoyed the mystery and plot twists.

A Good Listen
The story & writing are good enough. It’s very easy to predict who the victim is & a little less easy to predict who the murderer is, even though they’re both only revealed at the end. It was plausible the characters could’ve been reversed. I think that would’ve been better because that would’ve been a worthy twist. It’s a good mystery to read though. Slow at the beginning but it speeds up. Im going to listen to another of hers now - i love the whole ‘murder among a group who are isolated in a place with mysteries of its own’ thing. I think started by Agatha Christie.
Listening to it was ok. The only man was so monotone it was easy to tune him out. Yes, the character was a brooding tortured type but even those dudes have some inflection in their voices. Was not good & made the character seem very boring & hard to take seriously.
Speaking of hard to take seriously - the lady who voiced Katie was awful with the voices of other characters in her chapters. Katie was normal & good, then all the women were shrill and over the top & all the men were boof heads - it was like everyone was the same cartoon character. It was like she was reading a children’s book.
The other female narrators managed to distinguish characters without having to do this so I don’t know why the former couldn’t. Still, everybody did a good job of reading it, so it’s all good to listen to.
