What is Political Science? Within human society, it is customary to distinguish between the following spheres: economic, political, social, and spiritual. The political sphere is important in that it involves and determines the interactions of different political powers. This understanding lies at the foundation of any political analysis of public life. Politics as a specific sector within human society is as old as it is modern. Many famous statesmen and scientists are credited as the authors of laws and political systems.

Political science is the scientific study of politics. It is a social science dealing with systems of governance and power, and the analysis of political activities, political thought, political behavior, and associated constitutions and laws.

Politics is the second half of a single treatise by Aristotle (384 B.C.E - 322 B.C.E.), Ethics being the first. Both deal with one and the same subject: what Aristotle calls the philosophy of human affairs. He also refers to it as political science and social science. Aristotle collected and studied the constitutions of over 150 city states before writing his Politics.

Nul ne peut échapper au droit. Celui qui naît se voit déjà doté d'une filiation, d'un nom, d'un prénom, et aussi sans doute d'un domicile et d'une nationalité. Tout au long de la vie se nouent de multiples liens juridiques créateurs d'obligations diverses (achats les plus quotidiens, mariage, contrat de travail, etc.). Même la mort est soumise à de nombreuses règles de droit (sort du cadavre, respect dû à la mémoire des morts).
