Hamlet segir söguna af hinum unga krónprins Danmerkur. Faðir hans heimsækir hann sem draugur, til þess að segja honum að það var frændi Hamlets, Kládíus, sem varð honum að bana. Sagan er vinsæl til leikgerðar og hefur víða verið sett upp á fjölum leikhúsa. Þá hafa Brimborgarsöngvararnir verið kvikmyndaðir og búnar hafa verið til teiknimyndir og söngleikir.
