Archery Hunting

Hunting has a rich history and many modern uses. For some, it is a thrilling sport; for others, it is a chance to challenge nature; and then for those like me, it is a way to provide food and other necessities. Wild game meat is free from hormones and harmful chemicals, is organic, and is really good for you. If you can catch it yourself, then you will literally know where your meat comes from. You can prepare the meat yourself too. My book will teach you how. In this book, I’m going to discuss everything you need to know about wild game hunting if you are a beginner.

One universal truth I have learned over the years is that we archers and bowhunters love a good story. I am no different. Behind The Riser is a book of stories that I have accumulated over thirty years of bowhunting and competitive archery. I start with what first sparked my interest in archery, and how at an early age my father got me into hunting, to transitioning into a bowhunter, as well as how I became a competitive archer. These stories not only include the hunts that ended with me putting my hands on multiple Pope and Young bucks, but also hunts that didn’t end so well.

Using a black magic marker and a gray work jumpsuit, Jim Crumley of Buchanan, Virginia, drastically changed the nature and purpose of hunting camouflage when he created the first sportsman’s camouflage - Trebark. Throughout his life, Crumley has been a constant student of how to bowhunt better, and his desire to learn new and better techniques for bowhunting was one of the reasons he created Trebark camouflage. In this hunting guide, he shares the wisdom that he’s learned throughout his lifetime about how to be a hunter, how to find a deer lease, how to scout for deer, and more.

As a new archery hunter, it was on one of my earliest white tail deer hunting trips that led to an unexpected sighting. This, in turn, led to a hunting trip that three south Mississippi boys never expected to take. And the outcome of that hunting trip was not at all what they anticipated.
