The Lost Clan

Staying away from my lakeside hometown was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient Native American graves in our backyard. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals. As we made preparations for her burial, unnervingly odd and beautiful newcomers poured into my small town. A coroner with emerald eyes and black hair, much too young for the job. An arrogant blond socialite, who lived to get under my skin. And a tattooed Native man, who wasn’t supposed to be alive.

I wasn’t the sort of girl who believed in fairytales, let alone tales about faeries. But that changed the day Faeries came to my small town and Hunters rose from their graves. On that fateful day, I received a book, a peculiar collection of myths and legends. Turns out it was so much more than stories. And just as I was on the verge of unlocking its secrets, it was stolen from me by someone I called a friend. Now, I don’t know who to turn to, who to trust. All I know is that there are two sides, and I am straddling the great divide because I am both Faerie and Hunter.

I was locked out of Neverra—a death sentence for faeries born on the isle. Unless I found a way back home, the fire in my veins would extinguish, and with it, my life. That was how I ended up stuck on Earth, with for only companion, a grumpy hunter who hated me for what I was and what I'd done. If I'd known marking him would carry my voice into his mind, I would've kept my magic to myself. No… that wasn't true. I would've marked him sooner. After all, I was mute, so no one had ever heard my voice, until him.

When my father, the King of Neverra, forced my hand into the Cauldron to cement a political alliance with the Farrows, I thought my night couldn’t get any worse. But lo and behold, it did. On top of being engaged to Remo Farrow, the rudest fae in my kingdom, I now have to repay a bargain I struck to get out of trouble. A bargain that sends me hurtling into a world of trouble. A world I didn’t even know existed, unwelcoming and wicked, and forever changing; a world where my powers—all of them—fail me.
