Aryke is a rugged Scandian mercenary who embarks on a perilous journey through the enigmatic land of Lemuria after a violent storm shipwrecks him on its shores. Rescued by the bronze-skinned Karai people, Aryke quickly finds himself at the heart of a brewing conflict. When sinister tax collectors from the oppressive warlord Sath-Korum threaten to bleed the villages dry, Aryke's unwillingness to back down sparks a rebellion. As the reluctant hero grapples with his longing for home, he forms tentative yet deep bonds with the villagers, particularly with Nayala, the mysterious healer whose every gesture seems to invoke the very essence of ancient Lemuria.
