Laughing Loaf Bakery owner Gracie Markley and her assistant Beck take on their second catering gig: an outdoor reunion concert featuring hometown boy Noah Thornton Bell and his folk-rock band The Bellbirds.

After her maybe-boyfriend Nate takes off for a bird photography gig in the Galapagos Islands, Gracie chases a mysterious prowler from her front porch. The next day, a man in a green overcoat is found dead on the highway into town. The man has no ID, only a photo of Gracie in his pocket. Suddenly Police Chief Westerman is asking questions. The witness protection marshals monitoring Gracie and her father begin planning their relocation from River Grove—which may happen before Nate returns from his shoot.
