Eight-year-old Zayd is migrating from Pakistan to Canada. Though he's sad leaving his grandparents behind, he's excited at the thought of reaching Canada. From the moment he boards the airplane, he experiences all things Canadian: From the famous Canadian poutine to the Canadian provinces. But the most fascinating of all: Zayd enters a magical world of the Canadian Arctic, where he's surrounded by grizzly bears, Canadian geese, dog sleds, and a very special polar bear, named Jackson. For Zayd, the adventure has only just begun!

Zayd's been in Canada 10 days. He loves it here, but doesn't like winter. When the freezing Canadian wind blows Zayd's way, he feels cold and glum. But Zayd's discovered a magic potion that keeps him feeling warm and happy. It's Canadian Maple Syrup! Every time Zayd licks it, he feels like jumping up and down, and can't stop giggling. Join Zayd as he enters the Baldwin-Khan Sugar Bush in the heart of Ontario, Canada and discovers how this slimy candy-like syrup is made. 

In the wake of the Australian bushfires, nine-year old Zayd is upset. Zayd visited Australia when he was five. His fondest memory of the trip was his visit to the Big Hearts Animal Sanctuary on Kangaroo Island where Zayd fell in love with Harry the Koala. Four years later, Zayd is at home in Canada when he learns that many animals including koalas have lost their lives in the bushfires. He wants to know what caused the fires. When he discovers that global warming is one of the problems, he decides to do everything in his power to play his part in making the planet healthy again.
