I hated him — even when I wanted him. For more than 200 years, no one had ever infuriated me more than Harry Laurier, and he knows it. After moving to California, I was glad I would never have to see him again. As far as I was concerned, Harry could have his Alpha status — assuming his father actually relinquished his ancient hold over the leadership. All I’d wanted was to start anew. I wanted a fresh start, away from those who judged me so harshly. Why, then, does fate keep conspiring against me and throwing Harry in my path at every possible opportunity? 

I know that I have no business poking around into the lives of vampires and shifters. After all, it could mean life or death. As a mortal psychic, I’ve known for years about the realm around us, but this is the closest I’ve ever come to being a true part of it. While my work as a fortune teller is kind of a scam, the feeling I get about Oscar Morse is purer than anything I’ve ever known. And, judging by the way he is drawn to me, I know the feeling is mutual.

All I’ve ever wanted is to make the world better. However, even for a fairy, I have my work cut out for me. It is hard to stay optimistic when everyone expects the worst, especially a dragon cop whose eyes are fraught with suspicion everywhere he looks. From the moment I met Leo, I knew he was my opposite. I don’t understand why we can’t stay apart, even when a scared runaway child comes between us. But this runaway is different from any other I’ve ever encountered. He is a lost mortal soul whom the world has forsaken. I know it’s my duty to protect him.
