Home to generations of witches, the entire region knows the lore, and everyone knows someone with at least a suggestion of the supernatural in their family. So when Edgar Corey, one time FBI field agent and all-round recluse, is called upon to help the sheriff with what sounds like a supernatural case, he automatically turns him down.

So when Edgar Corey, one time FBI field agent and all-round recluse, is called upon to help the sheriff with what sounds like a supernatural case, he automatically turns him down.

The unexplainable appearance of a huge monolith in a field might be nothing to get excited about, but add in a local man raving about ghostly, glowing, inhuman figures in the woods, and now it’s a mystery that ticks all Edgar Corey’s boxes. He wants to prove his worth to the man who hired him, and with business slow, this case is just what he needs to attract some interest. His snooping, however, is not welcomed by all.

Someone is resurrecting the dead. That’s what Edgar’s client claims. Way up in the Appalachian Mountains, far from what most folks would call civilisation, a remote community has a new preacher with some rather disturbing skills. Worse yet, his followers act more like a cult, their belief in the man behind the miracles dangerously unshakable. Edgar’s job is to rescue his client’s sister, a woman swept up in the worrying fervour surrounding the enigmatic priest, but trying to disprove a resurrection quickly becomes a fight for his life when the locals begin to understand his motives.

Hidden in the seclusion of the Appalachian Mountains, the remote settlements are perfect targets for those who wish to prey on the weak … the human. Hired to investigate a mysterious bloodletting case, everything indicates Edgar is dealing with a clan of mobile vampires. He can’t take the case though, his ordeal with the cult has left him close to bedridden, but that’s not the case for close friend and secret crush, Poppy. Poppy is drawn to weird stuff, so when Edgar foolishly tells her she is not to get involved, she predictably does the opposite. But does Poppy know what she is getting into?

Don’t go out at night. Not when the lights are shining. All the locals know what the lights in the sky above their remote town represent. They know how many locals have gone missing. They also know that no one can help them. However, when one person reads about a paranormal investigator’s recent success, it’s not long before Edgar Corey arrives to investigate. But does everyone want him poking his nose in their business? Curious about the possibility of alien abductions, Edgar soon questions if there might not be something far mor sinister at play. Something far more … human.
