Pedro Antonio de Alarcón (1833-1891) war ein spanischer Schriftsteller und gehörte der literarischen Strömung des Realismus des 19. Jahrhunderts an. Als Abkömmling verarmter Adeliger musste er aus finanziellen Gründen sein Jurastudium aufgeben, trat in ein Priesterseminar in seiner Heimatstadt Guadix ein und begann seiner literarischen Berufung folgend Theaterstücke zu schreiben.
