Orentia Romagnoli Sacrati nacque a Cesena l’11 ottobre 1762, figlia del Marchese Lucio Romagnoli e di Caterina Leonardi Della Rovere, contessa di Montelabate. Donna di cultura, amante delle arti, dalla personalità generosa e indipendente, fu amica di poeti e scrittori, e lasciò un’impronta forte nell’ambiente intellettuale del suo tempo. Nel 1782 entrò a far parte dell'Accademia d’Arcadia, ed accolse con entusiasmo lo spirito del Romanticismo, ove l’interiorità, le sensazioni personali e il sentimento erano i fulcri dell'espressione artistica.
