As a child, Theo absorbed, among other things, a belief in the immortality of the soul. Her mother often said that if her daughter believed in it sincerely and zealously, she would never be alone. More often than not, these words were frightening. They made Theo think about the inevitability of death. But in a way, they also brought comfort. She knew that she would never be alone, no matter what happened. Poison in plastic cups, and stray bullets became the best teachers there ever were within the walls of that small church. They spelt it out. Death was just death and nothing else.

Childhood was an amazing period of life–a time when you were unconditionally dependent on the decisions of adults. Theo always consider herself an obedient child and never thought of being anything else. Obedient children were held up as examples to the neighbors, but even obedient children were sometimes drowned in the river by distraught mothers. Theo often saw fear in her mother‘s eyes. That fear had many shades. Most often superstitious. But rarely gratuitous. And when next to her father always reverent.

During her journey, Officer Bloom finds a web of lies that reveals the dark secrets of those closest to the victim. A chaotic moment at a retreat where two people, Sarah and Officer Bloom, chase after a woman who flees from the group. The woman, initially mistaken for someone suspicious, is tackled by Sarah and revealed to be wearing a strange costume with a tail, possibly dressed as a troll. Amid confusion and accusations, another woman, Wanda, arrives breathlessly and insists that the detained woman is not the person they are looking for.

During her journey, Officer Bloom finds a web of lies that reveals the dark secrets of those closest to Leah. As the truth emerges, she must confront her doubts and fears to bring the culprits to justice. She must give Leah the justice she deserves—a young mother isolated and judged harshly by the pastor and his flock. Despite her efforts to fit in, Leah was often seen as an outsider by the community. The pastor's influence led many to view her with suspicion and disdain, making her feel alienated and alone.

In search of a job, Theo joins an organization as an evaluator, devoted to supernatural pursuits. Her colleagues and the work she does there test her to the limit. The wondrous mansion, however, requires no believers. In her first case with David, she encountered a client who claimed to have seen a demon. Despite remaining skeptical, Theo wondered if there was more to the situation than meets the eye. While her scientific background urged her to seek rational explanations, this internal conflict left her questioning whether there were realms beyond her understanding.
