It’s Christmas in Penstowan, and local amateur dramatics group the Penstowan Players are putting on their annual pantomime. This year it’s ‘Aladdin’, and half the town have been drafted in to help, including Shirley Parker, who only has a small part in the chorus but will no doubt upstage everybody, and Tony Penhaligon, who’s treading the boards as the baddie, Abanazar. Ex-Metropolitan police officer turned caterer Jodie Parker has managed to get away with not appearing, but only if she agrees to cater the opening night party.

It’s three days before Christmas, and detective-turned-chef Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker is drafted in to cater a charity event run by a notorious millionaire at a 13th-century abbey on Bodmin Moor. Things get more complicated when a snowstorm descends, stranding them all, and the next morning they find one of the guests has been gruesomely murdered in their bed…

Just along the coast from Penstowan, the local festival has filled the area. Former Met police officer Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker has agreed to step in and help run the Pie Hard food truck, along with her rather reluctant fiancé, DCI Nathan Withers. As they prepare for a weekend of camping and being elbow deep in shortcrust pastry, Jodie hadn’t bargained on witnessing a fight between members of the lead band. But when the body of one of the band members is found not far from the campsite, Jodie finds it hard to believe it was an accident. Especially when the other members had so much to gain…

Still spinning from the hustle and bustle of city life, Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker is glad to be back in the Cornish village she calls home. Having quit the Met Police in search of something less dangerous, the change of pace means she can finally start her dream catering company and raise her daughter, Daisy, somewhere safer. But there’s nothing quite like having your first job back at home be catering an ex-boyfriend’s wedding to remind you of just how small your village is.

When a body turned up at her last catering gig it certainly put people off the hors d’oeuvres. With a reputation to salvage, Jodie’s determined that her next job for the village’s festival will go off without a hitch. But when chaos breaks out, Jodie Parker somehow always finds herself caught up in the picture. The body of a writer from the festival is discovered at the bottom of a cliff, and the prime suspect turns out to be the guest of honour, the esteemed painter Duncan Stovall.

A film company is coming to the Cornish village of Penstowan, and the whole community turn up to be cast as extras, even Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker. Determined to join in with the fun and ignore any dramas, Jodie intends to make the most of this time with her mum and daughter and hopefully see their names in lights…or really small writing on the credits page. But right on cue, the company’s caterer is sabotaged and Jodie must step up. It soon becomes clear that someone is out to spoil the filming.

Die Aufregung im sonst so idyllischen Cornwall ist groß, als ein Film in Jodie „Nosey" Parkers Heimatdorf gedreht werden soll. Beinahe alle Bewohner werden prompt als Statisten eingespannt und auch Jodie und ihre Familie sind mit von der Partie. Zumindest bis sich der Caterer am Set in einem seltsamen Unfall das Bein bricht. Natürlich springt Jodie gern ein, kann aber das Gefühl nicht abschütteln, dass irgendetwas nicht stimmt.

Wenn einer ehemaligen Polizistin die Probleme bis nach Cornwall folgen ... Die humorvoll-spannende Cosy Crime-Reihe zum Mitermitteln beginnt! Jodie "Nosey" Parker erfüllt sich endlich den Traum der eigenen Catering-Firma und tauscht dafür das hektische Leben als Polizistin in der Großstadt gegen das gemütliche Leben in ihrem Heimatdorf in Cornwall ein. Ein bisschen Ruhe ist genau das, was sie und ihre Tochter jetzt brauchen. Allerdings entpuppt sich Jodies erster Auftrag als komplizierter als gedacht, denn sie soll die Hochzeit ihres Ex-Freundes ausrichten.
