For many years I have worked with college students on a day-to-day basis as both a student-affairs professional and a faculty member. From those numerous interactions and observations I have had with young adults, I realize that being older and having more life experience does put us in the position of being able to offer guidance to younger people.

As a professor and student-affairs professional for many years, I have worked with numerous college students in the academic environment who are not doing well in their classes. However, I know that most of these students do want college success. What is hindering them? A major trait these students are lacking is self-discipline.
