往古より落合村小名中井の鎮守で武門貴族の崇敬が厚かった。特に安産守護子育の神として霊験灼然で武蔵風土記に「御霊社はおびしゃ祭を行う」と記載され、又六の日に安産の祈祷をなし古来神前の紅白の帛付を頒ち紅布を得れば女子、白布を授かれば男児を拳ぐべしとの言い伝えがある。
