Determined to reverse the evil of his dragon arm, Nath Dragon ventures deep into the Shale Hills with Brenwar the Dwarf in an attempt to rescue more dragons. Nath has his doubts, but helps see his brothers plot through. Slivver, Elween, and Brenwar align all of the forces they can muster to track Nath down, before Darkken leads them all to a perilous end. Who can Nath trust? Darkken, his brother, or his friends? Can he make the right decision for himself?

Nath, Darkken, and Maefon's relationships grow stronger and they become quite the formidable band of heroes. Still taken in by the deception, Nath journeys with his new companions across Nalzambor to the town of Old Hen. It is there that they begin a desperate search in a bizarre gargantuan crypt guarded by the undead. Within, they hope to find the secret of Dragon Steel, that can be turned into a weapon, that can kill anything.

Betrayed by the Black Hand yet again, Nath finds himself in a battle for his life with ruthless enemies attacking from all sides. Who can he trust? Meanwhile, as his bonds grow stronger with Calypsa the half-dryad, and Hacksaw the old knight, Lord Darkken begins to take command and leading Nath on a perilous journey with the dubious dark elven brothers of the wind.

Guarded by Riskers, dragons, and the Black Guard, will the heroes have what it takes to defeat the evil forces and finally crack open the tower and defeat the dreaded underlings. Smoke, Sid, Abraham, and their allies see the writing on the wall. They have one focus—use Boon’s portals to seek and destroy their foes before it’s too late. Grey Cloak and Dyphestive must mount a rescue to the Nether Realm and take down Utlas, the Speaker of the Dead. Stranded in Bish with time running out, Gossamer and Datris must face off against Dirklen and Magnolia, or risk being destroyed. The artifacts needed to defeat the Lord Master are stolen by wily mages, and a dangerous recovery mission is launched in the heart of enemy territory. Smoke and Abraham lead a quest to find a wizard that can return them home, while Sid goes through a mysterious transformation. Meanwhile, back in DC, Sticks and Streak must find Boon and mount a risk-it-all rescue mission.
