Amos was one of the Twelve Minor Prophets. An older contemporary of Hosea and Isaiah, Amos was active c. 760-755 BCE during the rule of kings Jeroboam II of Israel and Uzziah of Judah. He was from the southern Kingdom of Judah but preached in the northern Kingdom of Israel. Amos wrote at a time of relative peace and prosperity but also of neglect of God's laws. He spoke against an increased disparity between the very wealthy and the very poor. His major themes of justice, God's omnipotence, and divine judgment became staples of prophecy. The Book of Amos is attributed to him.

The Acts of John refers to a collection of stories about John the Apostle that began circulating in written form as early as the 2nd-century AD. Translations of the Acts of John in modern languages have been reconstructed by scholars from a number of manuscripts of later date. The Acts of John are generally classified as New Testament apocrypha.

B. J. Harrison does not tire of the adventurous and mysterious settings in his choice of narratives. This time, the horror element is a bit subdued, though Edgar Allan Poe makes up for the lost thrills with his haunting poems "The Raven", "Annabel Lee", and "The Sleeper". P. G. Wodehouse appears with four works, scoring points for his humor.

Apart from the ubiquitous presence of the authors who work in the short story tradition, the Second Season introduces poems and novellas. The romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge is here with his haunting and supernatural sea adventure "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", while Rudyard Kipling tests the human condition with his famous poem "If". Et forsøg på væbnet bankrøveri, herunder forsøg på dobbelt manddrab, forøvet den 14. november 1974 kort før kl. 16.00 overfor en bankafdeling beliggende i tilslutning til Vejle Eksportstalde nær havnen i Vejle, skulle vise sig at få et helt usædvanligt opklaringsforløb, - hvilket ikke mindst beroede på differerende og i visse tilfælde direkte usande vidneudsagn.

Den 45-årige, enarmede Ahmet Alusan var en driftig mand, som havde skabt sig en agtet stilling på sin hjemegn, en lille landsby i Tyrkiet. Han var gift, ejede jord, forretning og penge. Hvor meget af den gode økonomi skyldtes hans illegale narkotikaaffærer unddrager sig nærmere bedømmelse. Men Ahmet var alligevel ikke tilfreds med sin lod i tilværelsen, han ville vinde mere gods og guld.

Det siges ofte, at vanen er menneskets halve liv, og det gælder også det kriminelle menneske, der ofte et helt liv igennem anvender samme fremgangsmåde under kriminelle handlinger, såsom indbrud, bedrageri, plattenslageri og lignende.

Havde drabet fundet sted i vore dage, havde det med den op gennem årene stadig stigende og i sin brutalitet stedse voksende vold næppe givet anledning til mere end en kortfattet omtale i dagspressen.

Under hensyn til, at udbyttet af udåden kun blev sølle 420 kroner til deling mellem de to gerningsmænd, kunne man vel på forhånd anse disse for endog særdeles afstumpede, men hertil må det dog retfærdighedsvis – hvis dette ord da kan benyttes i denne forbindelse, siges, at ugerningsmændene ikke uden grund havde regnet med et udbytte af helt anderledes omfang.
