Den 45-årige, enarmede Ahmet Alusan var en driftig mand, som havde skabt sig en agtet stilling på sin hjemegn, en lille landsby i Tyrkiet. Han var gift, ejede jord, forretning og penge. Hvor meget af den gode økonomi skyldtes hans illegale narkotikaaffærer unddrager sig nærmere bedømmelse. Men Ahmet var alligevel ikke tilfreds med sin lod i tilværelsen, han ville vinde mere gods og guld. I den hensigt opkøbte han bøndernes overskud af råopium og fremstillede heraf morfinbase, som han siden med god fortjeneste omsatte i Vesteuropa. Men som man siger – krukken går så længe til vands, at den kommer hankeløs hjem. Sådan gik det også til sidst for Ahmet – krukken blev hankeløs i Danmark.
