Burkhard Wolk legt mit dieser Darbietung auch die erste Gesamteinsprechung der "Göttlichen Komödie" als Hörbuch vor. Wie in der Live-Rezitation wird auch beim Hörbuch der deutsche Wortlaut Karl Wittes verwendet, der der Erhabenheit der Danteschen Dichtung wohl am nahesten ist.

After his soul-searing journey through the torments of hell, Dante is led by his guide, Virgil, to the frontier of Purgatory, depicted as a vast mountain that represents the sole piece of land in the Southern Hemisphere. The pair slowly make their way up the mountain, at the top of which is the fabled earthly paradise. As they climb they meet repentant sinners whose curative punishments are often no less severe than those inflicted in hell.

In the final volume of The Divine Comedy, Dante completes his tour of the afterlife and rises to the highest sphere of heaven. His guide is Beatrice, who acts as both an object of devotion and also a source of instruction. In verse of the most sublime order, Dante not only describes the sights, sounds, and inhabitants of this celestial region, but also presents, with astonishing clarity, a comprehensive view of Catholic theology.

Led by his guide Beatrice, Dante leaves the Earth behind and soars through the heavenly spheres of Paradise. In this third and final part of The Divine Comedy, Dante encounters the just rulers and holy saints of the Church. The horrors of the Inferno and the trails of Purgatory are left far behind. Ultimately, in Paradise, Dante is granted a vision of God's Heavenly court - the angels, the Blessed Virgin, and God Himself.

Ci sono molti modi di visitare una città e forse Firenze, per la ricchezza architettonica e artistica che la caratterizza, è una di quelle che si presta a mille percorsi alternativi. Ma sicuramente tra questi, uno dei più interessanti, è rappresentato dalla passeggiata che, seguendo i passi di Dante, ci porta a incontrare quegli edifici sacri e civili, quei palazzi privati e pubblici, che formavano la sua città, quella Firenze da lui tanto amata e tanto odiata.

Nell’anno della celebrazione del 150° anniversario dell’unità d’Italia il CD contiene una scelta di testi significativi che intendono ricordare che la poesia, nel corso dei secoli, ha cantato l’identità italiana e l’appartenenza alla patria. Il senso dell’Italia, presente molto prima della sua unità politica, attraversa i secoli e giunge fino ad oggi: la voce dei poeti, come documento e come testimonianza, costituisce un filo rosso dal mondo romano fino al Novecento.

L'audiolibro contiene una raccolta dei canti più conosciuti e frequentati della Divina Commedia. Dante racconta il suo viaggio ultraterreno durante il quale incontra personaggi quali Caronte, Paolo e Francesca, Farinata, Ulisse, il Conte Ugolino, Manfredi, Sordello, fino al finale del grande capolavoro, con la preghiera alla Vergine e la visione estasiata di Dio.

Se è vero, come dice Borges, che la Divina Commedia è il dono più grande che la letteratura possa offrire a ciascun lettore, è altrettanto vero che l'ascolto di una interpretazione ad alta voce di questo capolavoro può trasformarsi in una esperienza unica, un'occasione preziosa per scoprire emozioni e sentimenti racchiusi in un capolavoro che è ormai al di fuori di qualsiasi epoca.

Nell'estate del 1940, un ragazzo di undici anni ascoltò il padre che leggeva e spiegava ai fratelli maggiori "l'Inferno" di Dante; le due estati seguenti toccò a "Purgatorio" e "Paradiso". Proprio quel ragazzo, che all'epoca capiva meglio il concerto delle cicale che non le terzine del poeta, mezzo secolo più tardi avrebbe spiegato e letto Dante ai microfoni della radio e in più di cinquecento letture pubbliche.

Ne "La Divina Commedia", seguiamo l'io narrante, che può essere visto come Dante stesso, in un viaggio attraverso le varie fasi dell'aldilà: Inferno, Purgatorio e Paradiso. Questo poema epico del XIV secolo è una delle opere letterarie più importanti al mondo. È pieno di simbolismo numerico e cristiano e mostra la percezione comune del mondo, dell'universo e in particolare di Dio e della fede. Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) fu un poeta, scrittore e filosofo morale italiano, originario di Firenze.

Dante Alighieri ist bis heute weithin bekannt als der Autor der "Göttlichen Komödie", eines der größten und einflussreichsten Werke der Literatur. Weitaus weniger bekannt sind die Werke, die er zuvor verfasst hatte. Eines davon ist "Das Neue Leben", verfasst zwischen 1292 und 1295. Vieles an diesem Werk ist außergewöhnlich. So schrieb Dante es nicht in Latein, damals der Sprache der Wissenschaft, sondern in seinem toskanischen Dialekt, dem heutigen Italienisch. Bemerkenswert ist auch die Form, in der er schrieb.

Das meist gehasste literarische Werk des Vatikans und das gefährlichste Buch der Renaissance. Wer den Weg zur Wahrhaftigkeit erschließen will darf sich auch nicht vor religiösen Dogmen beugen. Auf seinem Spaziergang durch Hölle und Himmel freundet sich Dante mit dem römischen Dichter Vergil an und trifft allerlei verruchte Wahrheits-Krüppel und andere gescheiterte Seelen. Die hier umgesetzte Version von Dantes Jahrhundertwerk basiert auf der Bearbeitung von Stefan George, bei welcher es sich um eine komprimierte Variante des Originaltextes handelt.
