This is a fictionalized story concerning an inheritance that ultimately ends up with a newly married couple at the beginning of the Great Depression. The inheritance does not consist of money but, instead, of the bride's sisters plus various properties in West Virginia. Despite the religious prejudice of the time, this new Protestant/Catholic group manages to form a real family while living in a quirky house through the bad financial times as well as through the future World War II.

This book is about the journey of a man--from meager beginnings, being abused and misunderstood by schoolmates and cousins, starting an adventure with very little, surviving on the kindness of others, and refusing to accept something without paying for it in some way. They expected a long-haired bearded boy in an army jacket to be a bum, but he would be a surprise to them by his work ethic.

Molly had set her sights on becoming a great lawyer, graduating top of her class in law school and then getting hired by a prestigious law firm. There was no stopping her. That was only up to the point in which she turned her legal skills into a macabre sort of vengeance, thrusting her into the depths of human perversions. All the while trying to understand the strange goings-on in her newly purchased home, trying to understand why she was receiving unsolicited messages from a boy who was brutally murdered when he was just a child.
